The Australian Society of Calligraphers featuring Geoff Ford
Geoff Ford, a passionate Calligrapher/Artist, will be at the Sydney Papercrafts Festival, along with the Australian Society of Calligraphers.
The Australian Society of Calligraphers is made up of members who must possess a certain (high) level of skill. In order to join, each member must submit five works of calligraphy and a personally illlustrated essay on the History of Writing. The works must demonstrate a wide variety of calligraphic skills, including gliding with at least one written in vellum. The standards are extremely high and in over twenty years, only fifteen have succeeded in achieving such membership!
Geoff runs workshops for people of all levels and teaches them the art of callligraphy, and on how to create your own personalised calligraphic fonts.
At the Sydney Papercrafts Festival, Geoff Ford will run a few classes on Calligraphy as well. Click here to see Geoff's biography.
Here are some samples of Geoff's gorgeous pieces:

Geoff did this piece for Queen Elizabeth II. The original is about the size of a standard poster and the material it is on is vellum - which is the skin of an unborn calf!
